Gennaro Beginner Build

Up to DateNo DLC
Gennaro BelpaeseGennaro Belpaese
Max DmgTanky

A budget-friendly beginner build built around Gennaro, whose flat +1 projectile passive works from minute one instead of scaling in over a run. Whip evolves into Bloody Tear with Hollow Heart, Garlic into Soul Eater with Pummarola, Fire Wand into Hellfire with Spinach, and Magic Wand into Holy Wand with Empty Tome, while Knife stays as Gennaro's fixed starter and Axe fills the last slot unevolved. Spinach is prioritized over XP-boosting picks since damage, not experience, is what stops a beginner from reaching minute 30.

Damage

Four evolved weapons (Bloody Tear, Soul Eater, Hellfire, Holy Wand) plus maxed Might carry the run past minute 20

Survivability

Garlic/Soul Eater aura, Hollow Heart's max health boost, and shop Armor/Max Health/Recovery

Boss

Not boss-focused; designed to clear a standard 30-minute survival run

Class Breakdown
Gennaro Belpaese

Gennaro Belpaese

A survivor whose passive permanently adds +1 projectile to every weapon from the very first second of a run. Unlike Antonio or Imelda, who need time or levels to ramp up, Gennaro's power is fully online immediately, making him forgiving for a first clear.

Wiki

Gennaro's fixed starting weapon. Fires straight ahead at the nearest enemy and is left unevolved for the whole run since it isn't paired with a matching passive here.

Combat Strategy

1Phase 1/3
Preparation
3 steps
  1. ▸Spend banked gold on the shop priorities in order: Amount, Recovery, Area, Might, Cooldown, Armor, Max Health, then Growth.
  2. ▸Start as Gennaro Belpaese so the +1 projectile passive is active from the first second.
  3. ▸Take Garlic as the first weapon pickup to protect against early swarms.
2Phase 2/3
Core Rotation
4 steps
  1. ▸Take Spinach and Duplicator every single time they appear, with no exceptions.
  2. ▸Level Whip, Garlic, Fire Wand, and Magic Wand toward 8 alongside their evolution passives (Hollow Heart, Pummarola, Spinach, Empty Tome).
  3. ▸Once a weapon hits level 8, wait for a treasure chest instead of another weapon level-up to guarantee the evolution triggers.
  4. ▸Avoid over-picking experience-boosting items, since hitting max level too early leaves nothing left to pick up.
3Phase 3/3
Advanced Play
3 steps
  1. ▸After all four evolutions are active, the build stops gaining meaningful power. From here the run is about survival, not further upgrades.
  2. ▸Watch for red XP gems starting at minute 29, which signal a sudden spike in level-ups and enemy strength.
  3. ▸Attractorb is a reasonable last-slot pick if nothing better is available, but it is not required for the build to function.
